Unique - the Cleckheaton viaduct

The Spen Valley Committee agreed on Tuesday that Cleckheaton’s unique viaduct was well worth restoring.

Following the initiative from Cleckheaton ward councillors, Kirklees Council officers have met funders from the Heritage Lottery Fund. They have encouraged an application for funding. This will come in at least 2 phases. The first phase is research about the viaduct, making local people aware of its significance, and demonstrating local support for a scheme of restoration.

So the first small steps have been taken to get the viaduct restored and its unique history more widely known.
