The Council have issued a very detailed information sheet giving details of the way the changes will be made to our local schools over the next 2 years to complete the change from a three to a two tier system.

The information gives a summary timetable as follows:

 September 2011

• Current year 4 pupils in Cleckheaton and Gomersal stay in the First Schools and become year 5

July 2012

• Gomersal CE(C), Whitechapel and West End Middle Schools Close

September 2012

• Pupils at Gomersal CE(C), Whitechapel and West End Middle Schools transfer to Whitcliffe Mount
• Current Year 3 pupils in Birkenshaw CE(VC) and East Bierley CE(VC) stay in the First Schools as year 5.

July 2013

• Birkenshaw Middle School closes

September 2013

• Pupils at Birkenshaw Middle School are planned to transfer to the E-ACT Academy at Howden Clough.
