Very cold last night but all the priority routes have been gritted twice. One of the added problems is that salt is less efective at temperatures below -5 C.
As many roads as possible will be cleared and gritted today. This includes roads that don’t normally get attention though some roads will not get gritted due to parked cars. All paths round Drs surgeries and Health Centres will also get extra treatment.
Roads still closed: A635 Greenfield Road (leading to Oldham) and A6024 Woodhead Road (leading to Derbyshire)
Schools – far fewer are closed today – see
http://www2.kirklees.gov.uk/community/education-learning/schoolclosure/closurelist.aspx
Bin collections – this is a limited service and many bins are not being collected on their normal day. I will try and get information about the council’s plans for catching up on missed bins.
