£6 million for Cleckheaton primary schools

by Kath Pinnock on 2 November, 2010

Next Tuesday November 9th there is a meeting of the Kirklees Council Cabinet in Huddersfield Town Hall. On the agenda is a report recommending that the proposed re-organisation of schools in the Cleckheaton area to create primary schools and 11 – 16 secondary school should go ahead.

Council officers are proposing that £6 million altogether be spent on:

  1. Scholes First: to extend and improve – £2million
  2. Whitechapel: to transform into a 2 form entry primary – £3 million
  3. West End: to create a new nursery and reception classes in the old part of the school – £1 million

Once this money has been invested Cleckheaton’s primary schools will have some very good buildings to go with the outstanding education they provide.

The full report is on the Kirklees council website https://www.kirklees.gov.uk/Secure/meetings/pdfs/1110/CABINET09111041016D.pdf
