Whitcliffe Mount Centenary Celebrations

by Kath Pinnock on 16 September, 2010

Whitcliffe Mount opened as a school on 15 September 1910.

Exactly 100 years later the school closed its year of celebrations with a special centenary presentation event attended by students from every form, all the staff, governors, Old Whitcliffians, Rotary, and local residents.

Rotary in Cleckheaton have a close relationship with the school. Their president presented a special award to the student who had done most to help others in the community.

There were centenary awards for the individuals and groups who had excelled at the centenary events over the year. Every student and staff member was presented with a commemorative mug by the Deputy Mayor of Kirklees.

And of course we had a giant celebration cake complete with candles.

The BBC were there during the day filming the event so there will be an audio / visual record of the celebration to show to students in 2110!
