The Labour-run Council has published DRAFT proposals for allocating land across Kirklees to be developed for housing and business use. The Local Plan, when it comes into force, lasts for 15 years.

The Council expected residents to find out about the Plan by looking on the Council website. This meant that many people had no idea what was being proposed. In Cleckheaton the 3 local councillors wrote, and hand delivered, 3,000 letters to those residents directly affected. In order that all residents can have a say in the plans for the Cleckheaton area we have now published and delivered a FOCUS to the 8,000 households in our ward.
