This week is National Apprenticeship Week. The aim is to raise awareness and celebrate the success of the apprenticeship scheme.
The Government has released figures for the year that as just ended. In Kirklees more than 4,700 young people were on an apprenticeship last year. This is an increase of 84% compared with the last year of the Labour Government.
I think that apprenticeships are a very good way of helping young people learn a new skill that may well become their career. Liberal Democrats in the Government have made sure hundreds of thousands more apprenticeship places were created. It helps young people get better skilled and, hopefully, better paid work.
