No green light for Birkenshaw so called “free” school

by Kath Pinnock on 7 September, 2010

The Government has announced that 16 so-called “free” schools are to be able to go on to the next stage of preparation for opening a school next September.

The big surprise was that the application from the Birkenshaw parents did NOT feature in the list.

Maybe it is because their application failed to include an admissions policy. Clearly, from their own application, there will NOT be a place for all Birkenshaw and all Gomersal children. And there will be only a very small number of places for Birstall children.

The Birkenshaw application also shows that the parents want the school to be run by a private profit making company.

One of the main criticisms of “free” schools is that they take funding away from all other schools and especially from funds to support children with Special Needs.

as you know the initial list is for schools opening in 2011 where as ours will open in 2012. Please stop trying to twist the info or is it that you are ill informed or not bothered enough to get to know what is actually going on?
Our application would not have got this far without an admissions policy. Please grow up!!
The Birkenshaw parents have no desire for the school to be run by a profit making company. If you have read the application properly you will see what is planned
